Robin Nathan Widener, 63, of Kansas
City, Kan., returned to his heavenly father Saturday, April 25, 2015,
at Select Specialty Hospital. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m.
Thurs., April 30, at the Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Ave.,
Kansas City, Kan., with Dedication Services following at Edwardsville
Cemetery, Edwardsville, Kan., and a memorial service after his burial
at The Church of Latter Day Saints, 8616 Haskell Ave., Kansas City,
Kan. Robin was born Aug. 8, 1951, and met the love of his life
Deborah in 1969. They married April 27, 1971. Robin worked
at the Kansas City Star as a mechanic from 1974 to 2001 and then
worked for Ryder until 2013. He took great pride in his work and
was an excellent provider for his family. He was preceded in
death by parents, Jamie and Ruby (Riedesel) Widener, brother, Jamie
(Pete) Widener, sister, Judy Taylor and grandson, Trevor Widener.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Deborah (Smith)
Widener; daughters, Shannon Smith, Shelly Smith Soverns (Thomas) and
Toni Widener; sons, Robin Widener II and Rocky Widener (Roni);
grandchildren, Sabrina, Kayla, Amanda, Casey, Nathan, Thomas,
Christopher, Tyfanee, Austin, Kimberly, Deborah and Alexandra; great
grandchildren, Dominick, Devin, Cassadie, Lillian, Joshua, Gabriella,
Trinity and Dillon; brothers and sisters, Gerald Widener, Patricia
Widener, Michael Widener, Lester Widener, Jeffery Widener, Tyler
Widener, and Laura (Widener) Dame. Robin was a very loving and giving
man. He taught his kids and grandkids to be hard workers and to
give people in need a helping hand. He was often called Mr.
Wonderful and Iron Man by his family. He will be missed by many. |
