Memorial Service Saturday 3:00 pm @ Murray Brothers Cascade Chapel Louis Edward Monroe, Jr. was born on August 9, 1952, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the second oldest of four children born to Louis Edward Sr. and Vera Monroe in Kansas City, Kansas. Louis had three sisters: Vera Louise Palmer, Marilyn Monroe Boxly, and Cheryl Ann Monroe. He was baptized at Allen Chapel AME under the pastorship of Rev. Nathaniel Harper. Louis served as a junior usher, was a member of the choir, and participated in the Young People Department known as (YPD), He attended Vernon Elementary School, Coronado Junior High School, and graduated from Washington High School in 1970 in Kansas City, Kansas. Louis was a scholar-athlete and loved football, as well as track and field. In Football, he was a running back and wide receiver. In track, his events were the 100 and 200-yard dash. His record in the 100-yard dash still stands today at Washington High School, fifty years later. Louis married Blanche Marie Lindesay in 1970 and to this union Louis Edward Monroe, III was born. The marriage later dissolved. Louis Edward, Jr. joined the U. S. Navy on October 12, 1976. He served as a GM-Gunner's Mate and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He received an Honorable Discharge in September 1980. Shortly after his military career ended, he married Gwendolyn Elaine Vaughn in 1981. This thirty-sixth-year union produced two children, Lionel Eugene Monroe, and LeRahn Elliot Monroe. The marriage dissolved in 2017. In 1986, Louis received a certificate in Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration from Climate Control Institute located in Wichita, Kansas. He owned his own tractor-trailer in the early 70s where he drove locally leading to a successful transportation career that started in 1993 in Frankfurt Germany. He proficiently operated trucks sizing from large refrigerated trucks to eighteen-wheelers. He drove across the United States while working for various large transportation companies including Schneider, Ploof, Marten, and SuperService. Louis had a love for freshwater cat fishing, backyard grilling and was also a man of prayer. His sons have demonstrated a desire to continue this threefold legacy. He joined and attended Mount Sinai Baptist Church located in Austell, Georgia where he served as Armor-Bearer, the leader of the Prison Ministry, and participated in the Men's Ministry. Louis was preceded in death by his parents Louis Edward Sr., Vera Ann Monroe, and sister Cheryl Ann Monroe. Louis is survived by his three sons: Louis Edward (Tic) Monroe III (Angela), Lionel Eugene Monroe, LeRahn Elliot Monroe (fiance' Kristin); two sisters: Vera Louise Palmer and Marilyn Monroe Boxly. Louis is also survived by five grandchildren: Johnathen Jamal Badua (Amelia), Amber Monique Williams (Tyler), Lindzy Ebony Smith (Devin), Charity Alexis Monroe, and Sarenity Elaine Monroe; three great-grandchildren: Kai Noah Badua, Alana J. Badua (Johnathen) and Kingston Tyler Williams (Amber); one aunt Clemmie Inghram; three nephews Duke Palmer, Brian Palmer, Gregory Boxly, Jr., and one niece Tiffany Monroe. He also leaves to cherish his memory with a host of cousins and friends. Louis Edward Monroe, Jr. touched countless lives with his jovial personality and prayer life. He prayed for his local community and his fellow truckers, who often called him "preacher" while on the road. He will be truly missed by all who came to know and love him.
