Tommy
“Tom” Eugene Hemphill of Kansas City, Kansas passed away unexpectedly
on March 7 2020 at his home. He was 68 years old. A memorial service
will be held at a later date. Tom and Donna will be laid to rest
together at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 North 94th Street,
Kansas City, KS 66112. Tom was born on December 9, 1951 in Kansas
City, Kansas to James Eugene and Evelyn Mae Hemphill. Tom grew up in
the Kansas City area and attended and graduated from Washington High
School with the Class of 1970. He received a diploma from a US Trade
School in Metallic and Acetylene Welding. On August 6, 1999, Tom
married Donna Marie Wild in Miami, Oklahoma. Tom and Donna were
married for ten years before her passing on August 12, 2009. Tom
worked his way up in his career at Machine Laboratory, LCC and held
the position of Supervisor for many years before his retirement after
19 years of service. In Tom’s younger years, he loved spending his
time bowling, fishing, and playing baseball. He was a big NASCAR,
football and baseball fan and his home was filled with autographs and
other miscellaneous paraphilia. He loved spending time with his
family, friends, and his beloved pets. Tom was ornery and always had
the ability to make you laugh, these traits, and many more, will be
dearly missed. Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna
Hemphill; his parents, Gene and Evelyn; his brother, Walter (Sam)
Jordan; his niece, Lori Ann Jordan; his uncles, James (Dolly) Newkirk,
Bill Newkirk, and Jerry Newkirk; his aunts, Bea Newkirk, Betty
(Richard) Shroy, and Barbara Newkirk; and pets, Buck and Dakota. Left
to cherish his memory is his beloved dog, Gizmo; sisters, Shirley Cain
and Sandra Norton and her husband Richard; brother-in-law, Ivan Cain;
nieces and nephews, Amanda Cain and her fiancée Matt Mayer and Jamie
Wilks and her husband Colby; Jim Collins, Gary Trotter, and Debbie
Moore; uncle, Cloyce Newkirk; aunt, Mettie Newkirk; step-children;
Robert, Eddie, Cindy, and Robin; and cousins, Rodney, Rick, Randy,
Mark, Dawnda, Rhonda, Lisa, Michael, Sigel, Dawn, and Debbie; along
