John S. Adams, age 56, Lee's Summit, MO, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at the home. John was born August 31, 1952 in Kansas City, KS. He married Mary Amen in Maryville, MO, on October 4, 1980. To this marriage two children were born, Justin and Heather. He was a lifelong Kansas City area resident. John was a graduate of Washington High School in Kansas City, KS in 1970. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. John's career at Data Systems International spanned over 20 years. He held many positions and achieved the role of Senior Vice President. He traveled world-wide for his company including Australia, the UK, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Russia and Africa to name a few. John was passionate about cars and motorcycles, owning several classic and unique vehicles. He rode bicycles and participated in the MS150 and rode his bicycle for the American Diabetes Association Wheel to Weston. He loved to go to the Lake of the Ozarks and drive fast boats, swim, ski and wake board with his family. Survivors include, his wife, Mary, of the home; children, Justin, Kansas City, MO; Heather, Denver, CO; his mother and step father, Minnette and John Garrett, Lee's Summit, MO, his wife's parents, Wayne and Mary Jo Amen, Brookfield, MO; a brother-in-law and wife, Chuck and Gracie Amen, St. Joseph, MO, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by a brother, Brian Adams. The funeral service will be Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit, MO. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. and the service will be at 11:00. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Swedish Lutheran Church Cemetery, Bucklin, MO. In lieu of flowers, tax deductible contributions may be made to the Truman Heartland Community Foundation for the John S. Adams Memorial Scholarship and mailed to 300 N.
