Joseph Coty (SGT Joe Coty)  I was with the VMF311 Fighter Squadron. on Roi beginning about Feb 1st till about Dec 15th, 1944.  I was on Roi-Namur, Kwajalein and Eniwetak in 1944 attached to the 4th Marine Division.  I was also at Pago Pago only in the harbor when our orders were change to Wallis Island before we went North.  I joined VMF 311 at Cherry Point in March of 1943.  I went to Plane Caption School and while at school, VMF 311 moved to Page Field at Paris Island. After school, I went back to Parris Island to my outfit, and then we went to Wallis Island, then to Roi-Namur, Kwajalein, then back to Roi.  I was at Roi Feb12th when we got bombed.  I survived with only a broken ear drum.  We got back to the states about the 15th of January 1945.  After a 30 day leave, I went to Cherry Point and then to Oak Grove Air Base, NC until November 25th, 1945 and then HOME.
