A Veterans Day Experience
Jack Perry (Kwaj 1983 - 1987)

Hi to all my Veteran Friends on Roi-Namur and Kwajalein,

I was the Chaplain of the Kwajalein Post some time between 1983-1987. What a fine bunch of comrades we had. Bill Philips was the Commander at that time. In a few days it was gonna be Veterans day and Bill took me out back at the Vets hall to show me how it sounds and how to use the rifle that I would use in the 21 Gun salute.  I noticed that across the way, the firemen were playing Volley Ball, I loaded up the rifle and took an air shot. It wasn't too loud, but when I looked over at the Firemen, they had all "Hit the Ground". Later on that night I ran into some of them and we all just had to laugh. They said that they thought the (Out of respect I will not use the term J*P's) were shooting at them.  One of the "Good times to Remember". It has been 21 years since I last saw my friends on Kwaj. I talk about Kwaj every day. I sure wish I could have contact with old friends or just to chat with other people that had the opportunity to live on one of Gods greatest places on earth.
